Seventh

Added note that colours a chord and calls for resolution.

The seventh is the interval of seven degrees between two notes. Added to a chord, it brings extra colour and an instability that calls for resolution. Seventh chords (C7, G7, Am7, Cmaj7) are at the heart of jazz and blues. The minor seventh is slightly more tense; the major seventh more dreamy. On guitar, adding a seventh often turns an ordinary chord into a jazzy sonority.
