Fifth
Interval of 7 semitones, structures every basic chord.
The fifth is the interval of five degrees between two notes. The perfect fifth (7 semitones) is the most consonant interval after the octave: it structures every classical major and minor chord. The 'power chords' used in rock and metal contain only the root note and its perfect fifth, which gives them their powerful, neutral sound, neither major nor minor.
