Barre chord
Chord in which the index finger covers several strings on the same fret.
A barre chord is a chord in which the index finger covers several strings simultaneously on the same fret, forming a 'barre'. The other fingers complete the chord shape. The barre lets you transpose the same chord shape to any height of the neck: the F barre shape becomes G two frets up. These are the technically most demanding chords for beginners, but they unlock the entire fretboard.
