Arpeggio

Chord played note by note rather than all strings at once.

An arpeggio is a chord played note by note rather than all strings simultaneously. On guitar, you often arpeggiate by plucking strings one at a time with the right-hand fingers (fingerstyle) or by using alternate picking on individual strings. The arpeggio gives a more delicate, clearer sound than strumming, ideal for ballads and introspective passages. It is also an excellent coordination exercise.
